Maine-iac Food Truck
Friends told us about this little food truck that served good lobster rolls, so, we paid a visit. The Maine-iac serves a few seafood inspired sandwiches, but the lobster roll is her pinnacle offering. One can have it three different ways: Maine style with cold mayo, Connecticut style with warm butter, or Japanese style with healthy lettuce. Not sure what healthy lettuce is, but it matters not because it is all about the lobster. The Maine style roll ($13.50) is classic, toasted, slathered with mayo, and stuffed with 1/2 a lobster. They also offer lobster mac ‘n cheese ($10), fried fish ($10), clam cakes ($10), two kinds of chowder ($8), and a red hot dog ($8) (whatever that is).
If you are local, take FM306 toward Canyon Lake. Cross over the Guadalupe horseshoe and past the traffic light at FM2673. It is about a mile up on the right, just across the street from the First Baptist Church. They take cash or credit.
Texas Peach Tea
Becky brought this home a few weeks back. I laughed at her for buying bottled tea. Come on. How many pitchers of tea can one make for the price of bottled? OK, price aside, this is really good. The peach flavor comes straight at you. Made with organic black tea and puréed Fredericksburg peaches, it is a thirst-quencher in a tall glass of ice. I add a pinch of mint from my garden.
Find it at Central Market, two 32 ounce jugs for $4. Be careful. This can be an addictive drink during the long, hot Texas summers.
