Willow City Loop

We drove over to Fredericksburg for a couple of days in early May hoping to catch fields of wildflowers, especially bluebonnets. We were disappointed. Very few wildflowers were around for us to see. The locals claim that the severe February freeze kept them from blooming. I am not sure that is the case, but that freeze certainly hit many plants hard.

Regardless, here are a few photos of our drive around the Willow City Loop.

These amount to the only wildflowers that we came across.

However, we did encounter some other sightings af interest.

And, not to be outdone by the longhorns, this fellow greeted us.

On the way back home we finally came across what we hoped to see in the Hill Country. This was on the east side of IH-35, about halfway back home.

Even so, we enjoyed the trip. Looking forward to next spring for an abundance of wildflowers, especially bluebonnets. Cheers from Wade Village.
